The IA 415 and West 1st Street Traffic Signal project includes the installation of a new traffic signal and improvements to pedestrian facilities at the intersection of IA 415 and West 1st Street / County NW 94th Avenue.  The City was able to secure Urban-State Traffic Engineering Program (U-STEP) funding from the Iowa DOT in the amount of 55% of the project construction costs up to a maximum of $200,000.00.

To facilitate the U-STEP funding, the Iowa DOT has submitted an agreement which stipulates the cost sharing and eligible costs for the project.  It is recommended that the Council approve the agreement at this time so the project schedule can be maintained.

It is recommended that the City Council take the following action:

1.  Consider motion to adopt Resolution to authorize the execution of an Agreement for Urban-State Traffic Engineering Program (U-STEP) funding between the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) and the City of Ankeny for the sharing of project costs for the proposed IA 415 and West 1st Street Traffic Signal project.
