The District Public Parking Lot – Phase 4 project consists of the construction of a parking lot and SW Merchant Street from the existing stub 320 feet east of the SW Vintage Parkway to just west of the planned intersection with SW Park Square Drive in the City of Ankeny, Iowa.
The construction improvements for the street corridor and parking lot include storm sewer installation, earthwork, subgrade preparation, 7” PCC street and parking lot paving, 5” PCC sidewalk paving, light pole installation and concrete duct bank installation. Other associated improvements include temporary erosion and sediment controls, permanent seeding, tree planting, SWPPP management, pavement markings and miscellaneous associated work. Work includes all materials, labor and equipment necessary for the project.
The bid opening for the project was held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Ten (10) bids were received as follows:

The engineer's estimate for the project was $682,381.00. The bids ranged from approximately 28% below to 7% above the cost estimate. The City reviewed the bid results both internally and with the project's engineering consultant. Jensen Builders has previously completed projects of similar nature for the City, including The District Public Parking Lot - Phase 3 project, and they have the technical experience to undertake this project. It is recommended that the project be awarded to Jensen Builders of Des Moines, Iowa.
Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will have seventy (70) working days to substantially complete the project, and the Notice to Proceed is expected to be issued in April 2017. |
