The Iowa Department of Transportation is on schedule to complete the reconstruction of the East First Street / I-35 interchange in 2018 - 2020. The DOT is acquiring the various parcels of property needed to complete this project at this time. Five of these parcels are property that is owned by the City of Ankeny.
Two of these, Parcel 29C and Parcel 58, are the subject of this proposed public hearing. These parcels are small, narrow sections of property that are needed to complete the widening of Interstate 35 and to provide for a recreation trail along East First Street. Parcel 58 is a small area that is needed for a recreational trail.
These parcels carry very limited value, so staff recommends that the City donate these parcels to the Iowa DOT to facilitate the project completion. |
