SUBJECT:
PH 2017-24: Proposed conveyance of property designated as Parcel 64 from the City of Ankeny to the Iowa Department of Transportation to facilitate the reconstruction of the East First Street Interchange and Interstate 35 Widening.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The Iowa Department of Transportation is on schedule to complete the reconstruction of the East First Street / I-35 interchange in 2018 - 2020.  The DOT is acquiring the various parcels of property needed to complete this project at this time.  Five of these parcels are property that is owned by the City of Ankeny. 

 

The north portion of a property owned by the City of Ankeny located along the south side of East First Street between SE Frisk Drive and SE Creekview Drive is needed for the project.  This property has been designated by the Iowa DOT as Parcel No. 64.  It consists of 20,700 square feet and is the subject of this proposed public hearing.

 

Parcel 64 carries very limited value given its proximity and encumbrances, so staff recommends that the City donate this to the Iowa DOT to facilitate the project completion. 

FISCAL IMPACT: No
This property is being conveyed to the Iowa DOT as mutual benefit with no valuation as part of the overall project cost.
