The SW Vintage Parkway Connection project is expected to be completed by the end of May. When completed, SW Vintage Parkway from SW Irvinedale Drive to SW State Street and SW Magazine Road from SW State Street to South Ankeny Boulevard will serve as the primary west-east connection through the Prairie Trail development. These segments of SW Vintage Parkway and SW Magazine Road are four-lane divided streets with raised medians and on-street parking, and they function as minor arterials. Due to this classification and for consistency with the existing speed limit on SE Magazine Road from South Ankeny Boulevard to SE Delaware Avenue, it is recommended that these segments of SW Vintage Parkway and SW Magazine Road have a posted speed limit of 30 mph.
SW Magazine Road from SW State Street to South Ankeny Boulevard has an existing posted speed limit of 30 mph, but this was not previously codified. The segments of SW Vintage Parkway west of SW State Street and east of SW Irvinedale Drive currently have a posted speed limit of 25 mph; however, the 25 mph speed limit is considered a temporary condition until the connection is made allowing for through traffic to use SW Vintage Parkway between SW Irvinedale Drive and SW State Street.
Pending approval of the proposed Ordinance revision, it is recommended that Section 63.05, subsections 28.A, 29.A, and 29.B be added to Chapter 63, Speed Regulations, of the Municipal Code to reflect the above changes. Specifically, a posted speed limit of 30 mph on SW Vintage Parkway from SW Irvinedale Drive to SW State Street, on SW Magazine Road from SW Vintage Parkway to SW State Street, and on SW Magazine Road from SW State Street to South Ankeny Boulevard (U.S. Highway 69). |
