SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Scodeller Construction, Inc., in the amount of $65,650.00 for the construction of the 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program - Phase 2 project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Scodeller Construction, Inc. for the 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program - Phase 2 project.

 

The 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program - Phase 2 project includes the cleaning and filling of approximately 51,000 LF of cracks and joints within the Country Crossing neighborhood.  The scope of the project includes joint and crack cleaning and filling, traffic control, mobilization, and miscellaneous associated work.

 

Bid invitations were sent to 25 contractors.  Four (4) bids were received for the project as follows:

 

1.  Scodeller Construction, Inc.                    $65,650.00

2.  Illowa Investment, Inc.                            $68,650.00

3.  National Sealant & Concrete, LLC          $80,420.00

4.  Henriksen Contracting, LLC                  $113,000.00

 

The Engineer's Estimate for the project was $67,700.00.  The bids ranged from 3% below to 67% above the Engineer's Estimate.  Scodeller Construction, Inc. is currently completing the first phase of the 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program for the City of Ankeny, and they have the technical experience and capacity to undertake the Phase 2 project.  The Public Works Department recommends award of the 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program - Phase 2 project to Scodeller Construction, Inc. of St. Joseph, Missouri.

FISCAL IMPACT: No
The 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program - Phase 2 project is included in the current 2017-2021 Capital Improvements Program for 2017 construction.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve the motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Scodeller Construction, Inc. for the 2017 PCC Pavement Preservation Program - Phase 2 project.
