The action before the Council is the adoption of a resolution regarding the SW Plaza Parkway and SW College Ave Detention Basins Project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract) and estimated total cost and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The SW Plaza Parkway and SW College Ave Detention Basins Project includes
the construction of two stormwater detention basins and general grading. The basins are located in the southwest area of Prairie Trail in Ankeny, on the west side of SW College Avenue and south side of SW Plaza Parkway.
The construction improvements for the stormwater detention basins include storm sewer installation and 102,500 CY of Class 10 earthwork excavation. Other associated improvements include pond clay liner, dewatering, revetment, trees, armor mat, temporary erosion and sediment controls, seeding and fertilizing and miscellaneous associated work. Phase 1 includes all items shown in contract documents, except for Native Seeding. Phase 2 is only the Native Seeding.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to fully complete the work within 45 working days with a late start date of July 17, 2017 for the Phase 1 work. The Phase 2 work shall be started between November 1, 2017 and November 15, 2017 and the contractor will be required to fully complete the work within 10 working days. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: May 1, 2017
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: May 5, 2017
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: May 19, 2017
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., City Hall): May 31, 2017
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: June 5, 2017
