Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION approving the execution of an agreement for the purchase and removal of barn materials from City Property located at 2055 NW Irvinedale Drive.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The action before the council is the approval of an agreement with Barnboards & Salvage Company of West Des Moines to remove the remaining portion of the abandoned barn located on city-owned property at 2055 NW Irvinedale Drive.  This property is the location of the future water booster station and recreation trail parking lot.  The house on the site will be burned by the fire department later this year.  The barn, which has already been partially demolished by the previous owner, can not be burned due to its close proximity to adjacent new housing.  Staff contacted a number of barn restoration / demolition companies to obtain bids for the removal and salvage of the wood materials.  Staff subsequently received one bid from Barnboards & Salvage Company to remove the boards for a payment to the city of $300.00.  The excess materials will be stacked neatly on-site for removal at a future date by a demolition contractor.  Staff recommends that the resolution be approved and the Mayor be authorized to sign the agreement to facilitate this work.
