The SW Des Moines Street Sanitary Sewer - Phase 1 project includes the installation of sanitary sewer generally located on SW Des Moines Street from 300 feet north of SW Prairie Trail Parkway to SW Magazine Road in the City of Ankeny.
The construction improvements include approximately 1,626 LF of 10-inch truss sanitary sewer and 10 sanitary manholes. Other associated improvements include erosion control, top soil, seeding and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The bid opening for the project was held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Twelve (12) bids were received as follows:

The engineer's estimate for the project was $284,583.00. The bids ranged from approximately 56% below to 4% above the engineer's estimate. Municipal Utilities staff reviewed the bid results internally. Sandstone Management LTD has previously completed projects of a similar nature for the City, including 2 plats of North Prairie Bend projects in 2013 and 2014, and they have the technical experience to undertake this project. It is recommended that the project be awarded to Sandstone Management of Carlisle, Iowa.
Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will have forty-five (45) working days to substantially complete the project. The Notice to Proceed is expected to be issued in August, 2017. |
