SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Central States Roofing, Inc., in the amount of $ 97,501.40 for the 2017 Fire Station No. 1 Partial Roof Replacement project. 
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The action before the council is the adoption of a resolution accepting a proposal from  Central States Roofing for completing the 2017 Fire Station No. 1 Partial Roof Replacement project.
  

This project includes the removal of an 8,020 SF portion of the existing built-up membrane roof on Fire Station No. 1 and replace it with new materials.  This project is similar to the previous roof projects that have been needed on Fire Station No. 1 and will complete the needed replacements for the foreseeable future. 

 

Bid invitations were sent to four (4) contractors that can complete this type of work.  Three (3) bid were received for the project as follows:

 

Cen     Central States Roofing                                   $  97,501.40

Aca      Academy Roofing and Sheet Metal               $106,500.00

NeN     Newton Roofing                                             $130,400.00

 

Engi     Engineer’s Estimated Cost                             $125,000.00

 

   

The bidding services for this project were provided by Tremco, Inc. and they recommend awarding the project to this contractor.  Staff recommends that the project be awarded to Central States Roofing, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
This project is included in the current annual budget for construction this year.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve the motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Central States Roofing, Inc., for the 2017 Fire Station No. 1 Partial Roof Replacement.
