The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from The Underground Company, Ltd., in the amount of $31,200.00 for the construction of the 2017 - Sanitary Sewer Pipe Repair project.

The 2017 – Sanitary Sewer Sag Repair project includes removing and replacing an existing 8-inch sanitary sewer pipe with a 60% sag for approximately 60 feet downstream of an existing manhole.  The construction area is located near SE 30^th Street and South Ankeny Blvd.

The construction improvements include mobilization to the site, diversion of flow from upstream sanitary sewer intakes, removal and replacement of approximately 60 linear feet of pipe, cleaning and televising the pipe, and backfilling to finished grade.  Other associated improvements include any miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.

Bid invitations were sent to 4 contractors. One (1) bid was received for the project as follows:

The Engineer’s estimated cost for the project was $29,400.00. The Underground Company, Ltd. has completed similar projects for the City of Ankeny in the past. The Municipal Utilities Department recommends award of the 2017 – Sanitary Sewer Sag Repair project to The Underground Company, Ltd. of Carlisle, Iowa.

The 2017 - Sanitary Sewer Pipe Repair project is included in the Annual Sanitary Sewer Replacement Program of the 2017-2021 CIP for construction in 2017.
