The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Pine Grove Nursery for the NE 36th Street Landscaping Improvements project.

The NE 36th Street Landscaping Improvements project includes the installation of trees and grasses along each side of NE 36th Street located between Ankeny Boulevard (US Hwy 69) east to NE Delaware Avenue in the City of Ankeny.  The construction improvements include the installation of 27 2" cal. Overstory Trees, 56 2" cal. Understory Trees, 7 6' height Evergreen Trees, and 794 Ornamental Grasses.  Other associated improvements include traffic control, mulched planting beds, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.

Bid invitations were sent to 13 contractors.  Two (2) bids were received for the project as follows:

1.  Pine Grove Nursery                    $80,286.00

2.  Country Landscapes, Inc.         $117,873.00

Pending City Council approval, the Notice to Proceed for the project will be issued on or before October 16, 2017.  The contractor has 20 working days to complete the project.  The trees will be installed in Fall 2017.  The grasses and mulched planting beds will be installed in Spring 2018.  The contractor is required to maintain and water both the trees and the grasses for a period of one year after installation and replace any plants that do not survive during this one year establishment period.
