SE Magazine Road Water Main Improvements

Professional Services Agreement with Fox Engineering
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The action before the City Council is the approval of a Professional Services Agreement with Fox Engineering for the preliminary design, final design and bidding phase services needed for the SE Magazine Road Water Main Improvement project.  The scope of the project includes the design of a 16" diameter water main from Ankeny Blvd. to SE Trilein.

The preliminary design for the project needs to be undertaken at this time so the project schedule can be maintained.  The Municipal Utilities Department proposes to use Fox Engineering to complete the necessary preliminary design, final design and bidding phase services for the project because they have extensive experience with large diameter water main design.  The scope of the engineering services and corresponding fees for the services are shown in the attached Engineering Services Agreement.  The total fee for the engineering services is $69,000.00.

It is recommended that the City Council approve the Professional Services Agreement with Fox Engineering.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
The project's design and construction are included in the City's current CIP for design in 2017 and construction in 2018.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve the Professional Services Agreement with Fox Engineering for preliminary design, final design and bidding phase services on the SE Magazine Road Water Main Improvement project in an amount not to exceed $69,000.00 and authorize the Mayor to execute said Agreement.
