The action before the Council is the approval of an agreement with the Iowa DOT to facilitate the use of local agency roads for Interstate 35 incident management temporary detour routes within Ankeny.
This agreement between the Iowa DOT and City of Ankeny permits the use of local agency roads as temporary detour routes when there is a short-term closure (less than 48 hours) of Interstate 35 as a result of a temporary incident (e.g. crash). Closures longer than 48 hours would be covered under a separate agreement. Ankeny's Police, Fire and Public Works Departments have reviewed and concurred with the Interstate 35 incident management temporary detour routes and corresponding signage proposed by the Iowa DOT. The signage will be furnished, installed and maintained by the Iowa DOT. |
