Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the execution of an agreement between the City of Ankeny, Iowa and the Ankeny Girls Softball Association for the lighting of softball fields #45 & #46 at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

An agreement on cost sharing sports field lighting between the Ankeny Girls Softball Association and City of Ankeny whereby the City of Ankeny frontloads the project cost (estimated at $200,000) and is reimbursed by the Ankeny Girls Softball Association at the conclusion of the project in the amount of $100,000.

 

This agreement approves the financial relationship with the project. Upon approval, the City of Ankeny will move forward with its normal public hearing, bid letting, and contract award process which will also be items in need of future Council approval.

FISCAL IMPACT: Yes
The net cost to the City of Ankeny when the project is completed is $100,000. This will be paid out of hotel-motel funds.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve financing agreement as presented.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):

Council has been briefed on the project and adopted the improvement as part of the 2017-2021 Capital Improvement Program.

 

Park Board has also been involved throughout the project's development.
PUBLIC OUTREACH EFFORTS:
The City of Ankeny has been working with the Ankeny Girls Softball Association Board of Directors, coaching staff and executive board. Neighborhood updates will also be incorporated to answer any questions from the surrounding property owners.
