The action before the Council is the adoption of a resolution regarding the Hawkeye Park Pond Improvements Phase 3 - Pond Dredging, Shoreline Restoration & Fish Habitat project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract), and estimated total cost and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The pond improvements project includes the dredging of the existing pond, storm water pipe,
shoreline stabilization treatments, trail improvements, earthwork activities at the spoils disposal
location, and other associated improvements including surface restoration, and miscellaneous
associated work necessary to complete the project. Add Alternate #1 includes the addition of fish
habitat to the pond.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award, construction can commence any time after August 17, 2020 and the contractor has until June 30, 2021 to substantially complete the project. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Dates of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: July 6, 2020
2. Post the Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing (Iowa League of Cities and Master Builders): July 10, 2020
3. Publish the Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: July 17, 2020
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., Ankeny Public Services Building): July 28, 2020
5. Public Hearing and Contract Award: August 3, 2020
