SUBJECT:

Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION approving exclusive beverage contract between the City of Ankeny, Iowa and Pepsico.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Request for Proposals were sent to Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola and Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group for the purpose of submitting a bid for the 2018-2020 exclusive beverage contract.  This contract is for City Recreation Facilities including: Cascade Falls Aquatic Center, Prairie Ridge Aquatic Center, Otter Creek Golf Course, Hawkeye Sports Complex and the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex Concessions.  Proposals were returned from all three companies. To calculate the proposals to determine the provider, 2015-2017 sales averages were used as a baseline comparison. Final results were as follows:

  • Coca-Cola: $135,620
  • Pepsi Cola: $129,763
  • Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group: $169,533

 

Staff's recommendation is to accept the bid and enter into a contract with Pepsi Cola for a three year period, 2018-2020.
FISCAL IMPACT: Yes

Over a three-year period it is estimated that this contract will not exceed a cost of $129,763 and is divided as follows:

 

2018: $37,978

2019: $44,896

2020: $46,896
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve a three-year contract with Pepsi-Cola for beverage services at recreation facilities.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
City Council approved similar exclusive beverage contracts and subsequent renewals 2005, 2008 and 2011.
