At its meeting on January 15, 2018 the City Council approved the 2018-2022 Capital Improvements Program which included an allocation for purchasing and installing lighting for softball fields #45 and #46 at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex.
Staff reviewed the Musco lighting products already in use at the Complex and determined that Musco holds a National Joint Power Alliance (NJPA) government pricing contract for lighting products, thus qualifies to be utilized without going through a separate bidding process.
The City is a member of NJPA which is a cooperative purchasing organization authorized by the State of Minnesota, which offers competitively bid pricing contracts directly with vendors, similar with State of Iowa contracts. The NJPA allows other government entities to participate in their contracts, just like other cooperative purchasing organizations that the City has used. The Finance Department has reviewed NJPA bidding procedures to verify that they satisfy the City's competitive bid requirements in our purchasing policy.
This project is being completed in partnership with the Ankeny Girls Softball Association. The electrical work and installation of the poles and fixtures will be bid separately at a later date. |
