The primary reason for the proposed change to the “No Parking” zone is to increase the visibility for pedestrians crossing the west leg of the NW 5th Street and NW School Street intersection. Currently, there are sight distance restrictions due to vehicles parking in the area 80 feet to 120 feet west of the intersection. Extending the “No Parking” zone from 80 feet to 125 feet west of the intersection provides increased safety for pedestrians when looking west while crossing the west leg of the intersection from south to north.
The Public Works Department mailed letters to the affected property owners informing them that, pending City Council authorization, the proposed change to the "No Parking" zone would take effect. No responses have been received objecting to the proposed change. |
