Property Use Agreement - Farmers' Market

"Uptown Ankeny Inc."

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The City of Ankeny, in conjunction with the Ankeny Market & Pavilion (AMP) Steering Committee, has been working on the fundraising and development of a 3 acre park located at 715 W First Street. AMP will include two large open air pavilions to house the Uptown Ankeny Farmers' Market, serve as a regional trailhead and offer a variety of unique and exciting community activities. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2018.

With the current Farmers' Market serving 20,000+ annually, AMP will provide better access to local produce, homemade baked goods and hand-crafted specialty items. The Ankeny Farmers' Market is operated by a small group of volunteers with the support of Uptown Ankeny Association Members. The second year of operation for the Farmers' Market at the AMP site in 2017 received rave reviews for the new location and venue.

The proposed agreement extends the lease for three additional years and outlines the terms and conditions for the use of the City's park and facilities contained within the AMP site for the purpose of operating  Ankeny's annual Farmers' Market.

FISCAL IMPACT: No
