The proposed amended and restated 1991 Ankeny Economic Development Urban Renewal Plan, which was adopted in 1991, includes the following updates:
- Addition of proposed eligible urban renewal projects
- Updated project costs and city financial data
- Updated objectives and activities for the area
- Extension of a self imposed 20-year sunset
These updates are necessary for the following reasons:
- With new development planned for the Uptown area, potential infrastructure projects and redevelopment programs have been added
- Proposed project costs need to be revised to reflect current cost estimates.
- More clearly defines the objectives and eligible activities, which are similar to the objectives and activities in the 1989 Urban Renewal Area.
Extending the self imposed sunset of the UR area by 20 years will aid the continuation of efforts to encourage reinvestment along S. Ankeny Blvd., Uptown and First Street. |
