SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Howser Concrete Services in the amount of $76,560.00 for the construction of the  2018 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements Project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Howser Concrete Services for the 2018 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements Project.

 

The 2018 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements project includes the removal and replacement of 26 ramps at 8 intersections within the Parkview Terrace neighborhood, generally located between NW Ash Drive and NW School Street and between NW 5th Street and NW 9th Street.

 

Bid invitations were sent to ten (10) contractors. Three (3) bids were received for the project as follows:

 

Howser Concrete Services          $ 76,560.00

Howrey Construction, Inc            $113,442.00

MNM Concrete Specialist            $114,936.00

 

The Engineer’s estimated cost for the project was $120,470.00. The bids ranged from 36% below to 5% below the engineer's estimate. Howser Concrete Services has completed similar projects for the City of Ankeny in the past and they have the technical experience to complete this project. The Public Works Department recommends awarding the 2018 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements project to Howser Concrete Services of Ankeny, Iowa.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
The 2018 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements Project is included within the Annual Sidewalk/Trail Construction Program of the 2018-2022 CIP with construction scheduled for 2018.
