The action before the council is the adoption of a resolution accepting a proposal from Howrey Construction, Inc., for the 2018 Deer Creek Park Improvements - Playground project.
The 2018 Deer Creek Park Improvements - Playground project includes the first phase of Deer Creek Park development involving the construction of the playground area and rough grading for the next phase of construction including the parking lot area in the City of Ankeny.
Other associated improvements include excavation and embankment construction, site grading, installation of playground area subdrain and outlet, installation of playground border wall and adjacent 5” PCC sidewalk, placing the 4” pea gravel subbase material for the playground equipment area, erosion control mulching with temporary seeding, mobilization and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
Bid invitations were sent to fifteen (15) contractors that can complete this type of work. Four (4) bids were received for the project as follows:

In recent years, the City of Ankeny has used Howrey Construction, Inc., to perform construction services and their work has been good and was completed in a timely manner.
