The bid opening was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 for the construction contract associated with the Community Entrance Signs project.
Four (4) bids were received as follows:

The total bids ranged from approximately 9% to 20% below the engineer's estimate. Staff is familiar with the firm of Edge Commercial and will be requesting resume information from the company to insure that they have successfully completed similar projects. If we receive positive results of that request, staff will be recommending that the project be awarded to Edge Commercial of Grimes, Iowa. Staff's recommendation is to award the full contract, including the Add Alternate #1 which adds the stone treatment to the back of the signs.
Pending Council's decision to award the project, the contractor will have 75 working days to substantially complete the two large signs. The signs must be fully completed including being lit at night by this date. The contractor will then have an additional 15 working days to complete surface restoration as needed around the signs. |
