The action before the City Council is the approval of a Professional Services Agreement with Nilles Associates, Inc., for the design and bidding phase services needed for the SW Des Moines Street Improvements - SW Prairie Trail Parkway to SW Magazine Road project.
The scope of the project includes constructing SW Des Moines Street to connect SW Prairie Trail Parkway to SW Magazine Road and associated water quality and utility improvements. These improvements will improve both vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow in this area of Prairie Trail along with supporting the residential and institutional development occurring in the area.
The design for the project needs to be undertaken at this time so that the project schedule can be maintained. The Public Works Department proposes to use Nilles Associates, Inc., to complete the necessary design and bidding phase services for the project, because they previously completed the design services for other public and private projects within this area of Prairie Trail. The scope of the engineering services and corresponding fees for the services are shown in the attached Professional Services Agreement. The total fee for the engineering services is $314,500.
