The action before the Council is the adoption of a resolution regarding the South Ankeny Boulevard Fiber Optic Relocation project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract), estimated total cost, and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The South Ankeny Boulevard Fiber Optic Relocation project includes the installation of approximately 7,400 LF of 2-inch conduit, 20 handholes, and 28,300 LF of 96SM fiber optic cable, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. The fiber optic cable, handholes and conduit will be furnished by the City. All other materials, equipment and labor are to be provided by the contractor.
The South Ankeny Boulevard Fiber Optic Relocation project is being undertaken to support Emergency Services, City and Ankeny Community School District communication network operations throughout the construction of the City's South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive / SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements and High Trestle Trail Extension projects, which are scheduled for 2019.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award, the contractor will be required to complete Stage 1 of the project no later than April 21, 2019. The contractor will have until May 27, 2019 to fully complete the overall project. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: February 4, 2019
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: February 8, 2019
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: February 15, 2019
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., City Hall): February 26, 2019
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: March 4, 2019
