Consider motion to adopt a RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of traffic signal poles and mast arms for the South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive/ SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive / SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements include installation of a permanent traffic signal. In the past year, increasingly long lead time for procurement of traffic signal poles and mast arms has contributed to delays in completing similar City capital improvement projects. Pre-ordering these items and furnishing for contractor installation with the project, can decrease the delay in opening the full project to the public's benefit.

 

Quotes for manufacture and delivery of the signal poles and mast arms needed for the project were requested per City of Ankeny Purchasing Policy. There are two regional suppliers. Valmont Industries, responded with Quote #438370-01, in the amount of $69,940.00 and expected delivery within 23 to 26 weeks from purchase order. The second supplier was non-responsive.

FISCAL IMPACT: No
The South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive / SW Prairie Trail Parkway project is included in the City's current Capital Improvement Program with construction scheduled for 2019.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of the traffic signal poles and mast arms as specified.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
At the January 21, 2019 regular meeting, the City Council authorized construction of the South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive/ SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements.
