The action before the City Council is the approval of a Professional Services Agreement with Snyder & Associates, Inc., for the design and bidding phase services needed for the Wildflower Detention Basin Improvements Project.
The scope of the project includes the design for the modification of the basin configuration and outlet structure to improve the functionality of the Wildflower Detention Basin. Improvements include replacement of the outlet, repair of the auxiliary overflow, removal of accumulated sediment, expansion of the shoreline and upgrading the dam facilities to meet current Iowa DNR Dam Standards.
The design for the project needs to be undertaken at this time so that the project schedule can be maintained. The Public Works Department proposes to use Snyder & Associates, Inc., to complete the necessary design and bidding phase services for the project because they previously completed the Wildflower Detention Basin Study in 2017 and have the technical experience needed for this project. The scope of the engineering services and corresponding fees for the services are shown in the attached Professional Services Agreement. The total fee for the engineering services is $61,600.00.
