SUBJECT:

Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION setting dates of a consultation and a public hearing on a proposed Amendment No. 10 to the 1989 Ankeny Economic Development Urban Renewal Plan in the City of Ankeny, State of Iowa. (date of hrg: 3/4/19 @ 5:30 p.m.)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The proposed Amendment No. 10 to the 1989 Ankeny Economic Development Urban Renewal Plan, which was last amended in 2018, includes the following updates:

  • Addition of undeveloped property
  • Addition of SW Des Moines Street from SW Magazine Road to SW 11th Street project

 

These updates are necessary for the following reasons:

  • The property being added is undeveloped commercial and industrial property and includes a parcel that was recently annexed into the City.  The area is experiencing significant investment.
  • The SW Des Moines Street project was advanced in the CIP and was not previously included in the urban renewal plan amendment completed in 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
To approve setting the public hearing and consultation meeting as presented.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
This urban renewal area and plan was amended in 2018.
PUBLIC OUTREACH EFFORTS:
Consultation with all affected taxing entities will occur prior to the public hearing.
