The resolution for consideration is to approve the setting of a public hearing on a lease agreement between the City of Ankeny and GPSI Leasing II – Accord, LLC. The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that a lease agreement be approved to facilitate the installation of GPS (global positioning) equipment onto each of the 72 golf carts at Otter Creek Golf Course.
GPS Incorporated, working through GPSI Leasing II – Accord, LLC, offers a package that includes the tracking capabilities, plus many more features that will enhance the cart use for the golfer. This includes interactive screen services such as position locating, distance to the hole, weather conditions, advertising, and the ability to order food and drink from the cart. This equipment and service is very specialized, and GPS Incorporated is one of the few companies to offer this service. The term of the lease is four years at a fee of $28,512.00 per year.
The City of Ankeny executed a similar Agreement with Advantage Financial Service, LLC in March 2015 for the same golf course management system. The proposed agreement is being presented as the Golf Course desires to continue use of the system.
It is recommended that the Council approve the resolution to set the public hearing for the execution of the agreement to provide the GPS equipment and services. Pending council approval, the public hearing will be held on February 18, 2019. |
