Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to sign a grant application to be submitted to the Wellmark Foundation for the Ankeny High Trestle Trail Extension - SW Ordnance Road to SE Magazine Road Project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Staff recommends that the city submit an application for the Wellmark Foundation's Matching Assets to Community Health Program for the next phase of the High Trestle Trail through Ankeny.  This proposed segment will run from the current terminus located just west of South Ankeny Blvd., southeast to SE Magazine Road.  This project includes the construction of a 10-foot wide recreation trail and tunnel under Ankeny Boulevard/Hwy 69. The project will terminate at SE Magazine Road, where it will connect with the existing 8' recreation trail on the north side of the street. Construction for this project is scheduled in 2019 and funding has been allocated through the City's Capital Improvement Program.

CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Both the city manager and staff recommend approval of this resolution authorizing the City of Ankeny to submit an application for the Wellmark Foundation's funding and further approving the application which obligates the City of Ankeny to matching funds for the construction of said project.
