The action before the City Council is the approval of a Professional Services Agreement with Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc., for the construction engineering services needed for the NE 54th Street Bridge Replacement Over Branch of Fourmile Creek project.
The scope of the project includes replacing the existing bridge on NE 54th Street over a branch of Fourmile Creek with a 70 ft. x 32 ft. continuous concrete slab bridge; associated street and utility improvements between NE Hillcrest Dr. and NE Briarwood Dr.; and constructing 8-ft. and 5-ft. wide sidewalk connections on the north and south sides of NE 54th Street.
Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc., completed the preliminary design, final design, and bidding phase services for the NE 54th Street Bridge Replacement over Branch of Fourmile Creek project in 2017 and 2018 through a separate Professional Services Agreement. The project was bid through the Iowa DOT on January 16, 2019. The Public Works Department proposes to continue using Calhoun-Burns Associates, Inc., for the construction engineering services needed for the project. The scope of the construction engineering services and the corresponding fees are shown in the attached Professional Services Agreement. The fee for the construction engineering services is $170,000.00.
A portion of the construction engineering services in this Agreement will be funded with the $400,000 of federal-aid Swap Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program funding received from the MPO for this project.
It is recommended that the City Council approve the Professional Services Agreement for construction engineering services with Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc. |
