SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the setting of a hearing on a proposal to assess unpaid costs of cutting or eliminating vegetation pursuant to Chapter 167 of the Ankeny Municipal Code (date of hrg: 3/4/19 @ 5:30 p.m.).
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City of Ankeny, after due notice to the listed property owners, cut or eliminated grass and/or weeds that exceeded the height restrictions as defined in Municipal Code Chapter 167. The property owners were invoiced for the cost of the destruction. The unpaid costs are now subject to assessment against the property.

Costs the City incurred for the cutting of grass and/or weeds shall be assessed against the affected property.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Authorize the certification of liens for the purpose of assessing the unpaid costs against the properties.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
Written notices were mailed to property owners to correct the violation of Chapter 167.
Non-compliant property owners were invoiced for City's cost to eliminate the grass and/or weeds.
Publication of the notice of public hearing to assess the unpaid costs for cutting/eliminating the grass/weeds.
