The action before the Council is the adoption of a resolution regarding the 2019 PCC Reconstruction Program - NW 9th Street project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract) and estimated total cost and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The 2019 PCC Reconstruction Program – NW 9th Street project includes pavement reconstruction and minor utility improvements along NW 9th Street from just east of NW Irvinedale Drive to the east connection of NW Park Lane in the City of Ankeny.
The construction improvements include temporary traffic control, removal of existing street, driveway and sidewalk pavement, Class 10 excavation, removal of existing storm sewer infrastructure, construction of storm sewer improvements, 6” subgrade preparation, 8” subdrain installation, placement of 6” modified subbase, construction of approximately 3,100 SY of 8” PCC street pavement utilizing a slip-form paving machine, construction of 8” PCC pavement for school driveways, construction of 6” PCC pavement for residential driveways and pedestrian ramps, construction of 4” PCC sidewalk, construction of ADA compliant pedestrian ramps with regular detectable warning panels, finish grading and backfilling, creating compost-amended topsoil, seed surface restoration, erosion control, required testing and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to start the project immediately after the current school year ends, and they will have 40 working days to substantially complete the project. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: February 18, 2019
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: February 22, 2019
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: March 1, 2019
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., City Hall): March 12, 2019
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: March 18, 2019
