The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution regarding the SE East Lawn Area Utility Improvements - Phase 2 project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract), estimated total cost and enhancement of payment; and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The SE East Lawn Area Utility Improvements – Phase 2 project includes the removal and replacement of PCC street pavement, sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer generally located on SE East Lawn Drive from west of SE Grant Street to SE Sherman Drive in the City of Ankeny.
The construction improvements include approximately 2,600 SY of PCC street pavement, 830 LF of sanitary sewer, 1,100 LF of water main, 940 LF of storm sewer, Class 10 excavation, subgrade preparation, modified subbase, subdrain, and removal and replacement of driveways and sidewalks. Other associated improvements include traffic control, erosion control, temporary sidewalk, temporary surface restoration, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to start the project no earlier than April 29, 2019 and no later than May 20, 2019. They will have 120 working days to fully complete the overall project. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: February 18, 2019
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: February 22, 2019
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: March 1, 2019
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., City Hall): March 12, 2019
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: March 18, 2019
