The South Ankeny Boulevard Fiber Optic Relocation Project includes the relocation of the City of Ankeny and Ankeny Community School District fiber optic lines along South Ankeny Boulevard between the Public Works Maintenance Facility at 211 SE Lorenz Drive and S 3rd Street. The purpose of the project is to maintain the communication networks for each agency throughout the 2019-2020 construction of the South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive/ SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements and the High Trestle Trail Extension projects.

The construction improvements include the installation of approximately 7,400 LF of 2-inch HDPE bored conduit, 28,300 LF of 96SM fiber optic cable, and 21 handholes.  Other associated improvements include fiber optic terminations / splicing, traffic control, surface restoration and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. All conduit, fiber optic cable and handholes for the project will be supplied to the contractor by the City of Ankeny.
