SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from JDA Construction in the amount of $124,370.00 for the construction of the  2019 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements Project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from JDA Construction for the 2019 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements Project.

 

The 2019 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements project includes the removal and replacement of 25 ramps at 8 intersections within the NW Georgetown Boulevard neighborhood, generally located between NW Ash Drive and NW School Street and between NW 20th Street and NW 27th Street.

 

Bid invitations were sent to ten (10) contractors. Four (4) bids were received for the project as follows:

 

JDA Construction                           $124,370.00

MNM Concrete Specialist              $129,205.00

Con-Struct, Inc.                              $154,810.00

JT Concrete                                   $222,985.00

 

The Engineer’s estimated cost for the project was $135,585.00. The bids ranged from 8% below to 64% above the engineer's estimate. JDA Construction has completed similar projects for the City of Ankeny in the past and they have the technical experience to complete this project. The Public Works Department recommends awarding the 2019 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements project to JDA Construction of Marshalltown, Iowa.

FISCAL IMPACT: No
The 2019 Pedestrian Ramp Improvements Project is included within the Annual Sidewalk/Trail Construction Program of the 2019-2023 CIP with construction scheduled for 2019.
