The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution regarding the Deer Creek Trunk Sewer Extension project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract), estimated total cost and enhancement of payment; and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The Deer Creek Trunk Sewer Extension project includes installation of 30" diameter PVC sanitary sewer main, 30" concrete-encased PVC sanitary sewer main, 30" reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) sanitary sewer main, sanitary manholes, sheet piling, bank stabilization, and seeding/erosion control generally located along Deer Creek between E. 1st Street and NE 18th Street in the City of Ankeny.
The construction improvements include approximately 3097 lineal feet of 30" diameter PVC sanitary sewer main, 386 lineal feet of 30" diameter concrete-encased PVC sanitary sewer main, 316 lineal feet of RCP sanitary sewer main, 7643 square feet of sheet pile, topsoil strip/stockpile/re-spread, 13 sanitary sewer manholes, and seeding/erosion control. Other associated improvements include miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to start the project no later than July 1, 2019. They will have 180 working days to substantially complete construction. Upon substantial completion, they will have 10 working days to fully complete the project. This schedule would provide for a Fall of 2020 project completion. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: April 15, 2019
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: April 19, 2019
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: May 3, 2019
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., City Hall): May 14, 2019
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: May 20, 2019
