Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the Ankeny Police Department to submit an ICAP Law Enforcement Policy and Training Grant Application.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP) is providing a grant opportunity to member law enforcement agencies to implement a policy and training program.  ICAP wants to help member law enforcement agencies afford the cost of qualified third-party programs that assist with policy review, implementation and agency-wide training.

The grant will provide the department up-to-date and legally defensible polices and assist in the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) certification.

FISCAL IMPACT: Yes

The ICAP Law Enforcement Policy and Training Grant is available for three fiscal years from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022, totaling $17,500.  The grant does require a local match as outlined in the table below.
