SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Precision Underground Utilities, LLC, in the amount of $ 29,701.00 for the construction of the Fiber Optic Connection to the New Public Library.  
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Precision Underground Utilities, LLC for the Fiber Optic Connection to the New Public Library.

 

The Fiber Optic Connection to the New Public Library is necessary to support communication needs for the new City facility. The project includes placing new conduit and handholes and placing new fiber optic cable in new and existing conduit along fiber optic cable splicing and terminations.

 

Bid invitations were sent to six (6) contractors. Two (2) bids were received for the project as follows:

 

Precision Underground Utilities, LLC     $ 29,701.00

Communication Innovators, Inc.            $ 54,457.00

 

The Engineer’s estimated cost for the project was $ 61,820.00. Precision Underground Utilities, LLC has completed several similar projects for the City of Ankeny and they have the technical experience to complete this project. The Public Works Department recommends awarding the Fiber Optic Connection to the New Public Library Project to Precision Underground Utilities, LLC of Cambridge, Iowa.

 
FISCAL IMPACT: Yes
The project is included in the 2019-2023 CIP as part of the Annual Traffic Signal Improvements with construction scheduled for 2019.

Approve the motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from Precision Underground Utilities, LLC for the Fiber Optic Connection to the New Public Library.
