Deer Creek Trunk Sewer Extension
The Deer Creek Trunk Sewer Extension project includes the construction of 30" diameter sanitary sewer, sanitary manholes, sheet piling, bank stabilization, seeding, and erosion control generally located along Deer Creek between E. 1st Street and NE 18th Street within City limits.
The construction improvements include approximately 3097 LF of 30" diameter PVC sanitary sewer, 386 LF of 30" diameter concrete encased PVC sanitary sewer, 316 LF of RCP sanitary sewer, 7643 SF of sheet pile, topsoil strip/stockpile/re-spread, 13 sanitary sewer manholes, seeding, and erosion control. Other improvements include miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The bid opening for this project was held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. One (1) bid was received as follows:
1. Rognes Corporation $1,981,788.00
The Engineer's Estimate for the project was $2,105,545.00. The bid was approximately 6.0% below the estimate. The bid results were reviewed both internally and with the project's engineering consultant. Rognes Corporation has done similar projects to this for the City in 2018, including a 24" diameter trunk sewer project with the Trestle Ridge Estates project. We have reached out to other plan holders to see why they elected not to bid on this project and the main reason was related to the amount of work they had already on their books for this construction season. It is recommended that the project be awarded to Rognes Corporation of Ankeny, Iowa.
Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to start the project within ten (10) calendar days after the date set forth in the written Notice to Proceed, (expected start date July 1, 2019) and they will have 180 Working Days to substantially complete the project. |
