The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Henriksen Contracting, LLC for the 2019 PCC Partial Depth Repair Program project.

The 2019 PCC Partial Depth Repair Program project includes the partial depth repair patching of NW State Street from 600 feet north of NW Prairie Ridge Drive to just south of NW 18th Street in the City of Ankeny.

The construction improvements include the partial depth repair of approximately 2,600 SF of PCC pavement along with the cleaning and filling of approximately 3,425 LF of cracks and joints adjacent to the partial depth repair areas.  Other associated improvements include temporary traffic control, portable dynamic message signs, mobilization, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.

Bid invitations were sent to 15 contractors.  Two (2) bids were received for the project as follows:

1.  Henriksen Contracting           $98,650.00

2.  Iowa Civil Contracting          $162,611.00

The Engineer's Estimate for the project was $138,220.00.  The bids ranged from approximately 29% below to approximately 18% above the Engineer's Estimate.  Henriksen Contracting, LLC has previously completed the 2016 PCC Pavement Preservation Program and is completing the 2019 PCC Pavement Preservation Program this year for the City of Ankeny, has previously completed partial depth repair projects for other municipalities, and they have the technical experience and capacity to undertake the City's partial depth repair project.  The Public Works Department recommends award of the 2019 PCC Partial Depth Repair Program project to Henriksen Contracting, LLC of Grimes, Iowa.
