The action before the Council is the adoption of a resolution regarding the SE Magazine Road Sidewalk Upgrade - Phase 3 project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract) and estimated total cost and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The SE Magazine Road Sidewalk Upgrade – Phase 3 project includes the removal of the existing four (4) foot sidewalk and replacement with an eight (8) foot widened sidewalk along the south side of SE Magazine Road between SE Trilein Drive and SE Delaware Avenue in the City of Ankeny. The project also includes the replacement or upgrade of the pedestrian curb ramps along the corridor.
The construction improvements include approximately 1,945 SY of 5” PCC sidewalk, 244 SY of 6” PCC sidewalk, 89 SY of 4” PCC sidewalk and 2,651 SY of special subgrade preparation, 233 SY of PCC full depth patch, and 1,244 SY of pavement removal. Other associated improvements include earthwork, traffic control, erosion control, surface restoration, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to start the project by no later than September 3, 2019, and they will have 30 working days to fully complete the project. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: June 17, 2019
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: June 21, 2019
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: June 28, 2019
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., City Hall): July 9, 2019
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: July 15, 2019
