SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt a RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of a walk-in van to be used by the Municipal Utilities Department as a service vehicle for water main breaks.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Proposals were requested by the Finance Department for a walk-in van. Built on a strip chassis, the modular cargo area design features low step-in height at the cab doors and rear doors for ease of entering and exiting the vehicle. In addition, full stand-up height in the cab and cargo areas provide an ergonomic workspace.

Three companies were invited to participate in a competitive semi-formal bid process, which included the new vehicle purchase and trade-in of old unit #787, a 1995 Chevrolet walk-in van.

   (1) Auto Park Fleet                               Plymouth, IN

   (2) Utilimaster, c/o Spartan Motors       Bristol, IN

   (3) Harrison Truck Centers                   Altoona, IA

One bid was received back from Harrison Truck Centers of Altoona, Iowa, with a net cost (includes trade-in allowance) of $66,376.00. Delivery date is estimated to be in December 2019.

As this purchase was approved in the FY20 budget, it is respectfully requested that the order for this vehicle be allowed to occur before July 1, 2019, due to the lengthy time for manufacturing.

FISCAL IMPACT: No
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of the walk-in van as specified.
