2018 Ash Drive Water Tower Repair and Coating Project: Consider motion to approve: a) Certificate of Completion; b) RESOLUTION accepting the public improvements with WW Sandblasting, Inc., in the amount of $165,000.00; and c) Release of Retainage in the amount of $8,250.00
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The actions before the Council are the acceptance of the Certificate of Completion, passage of a Resolution accepting the public improvements and approval of the Retainage Payment to WW Sandblasting, Inc. for the 2018 Ash Drive Water Tower Repair and Coating Project.

The 2018 Ash Drive Water Tower Repair and Coating Project is now complete including all final surface restoration.  A series of actions are needed in order to close out this construction project:

a)  Engineer's Certificate of Completion:  The attached Certificate of Completion from the project engineer states that the work performed was in substantial compliance with the plans and specifications and that the final contract amount is $165,000.00.

b)  Resolution accepting the public improvements:  This Resolution approves and adopts the Engineer's Certificate of Completion for the 2018 Ash Drive Water Tower Repair and Coating Project and establishes the final contract amount to be $165,000.00.

c) Retainage Payment:  WW Sandblasting, Inc. = $8,250.00.

It is recommended he retainage be approved for payment 31 days from the date of acceptance of the project, in accordance with the terms of the contract.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
The above payment will facilitate the final completion of this project, which was funded through the Capital Improvements Program.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

1.  Accept the Certificate of Completion from the project engineer for the 2018 Ash Drive Water Tower Repair and Coating Project.

2.  Adopt the Resolution accepting the 2018 Ash Drive Water Tower Repair and Coating Project with WW Sandblasting, Inc. in the final contract amount of $165,000.00.

3.  Authorize Release of Retainage Payment to WW Sandblasting, Inc. in the amount of $8,250.00 in accordance with the terms of the contract.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
March 26, 2018:  The council ordered construction and set dates for bidding and public hearing.

May 7, 2018:  The council held the public hearing; adopted plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost; awarded the construction contract and approved the construction contract and bonds.
