SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the City of Ankeny to enter into a grant agreement with Bravo Greater Des Moines for a Public Art Master Plan for the High Trestle Trail.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This grant funding will be used to hire a consultant to complete site investigation, community visioning, schematic designs and cost estimates for interactive and/or static public art amenities at the following locations:

  • Property located immediately north of the new booster station on NW Irvinedale

  • Ankeny Market Pavilion and Uptown

  • S. Ankeny Boulevard underpass

  • SW Oralabor Road overpass

 

The completed master plan will be used to guide future investment in these areas of the community and enhance public infrastructure already planned for some of these locations.  Creating a plan for these areas collectively provides an opportunity to create independent unique spaces with elements that may be consistent among the four locations, creating a truly unique experience for trail users who can experience all four amenities while using the trail. Elements of the final plan will be valuable when applying for future grant funding to implement the projects proposed in the master plan.
FISCAL IMPACT: Yes
The grant agreement requires a 1:1 match; therefore, $15,000 of City funds will be necessary to draw $15,000 of Bravo funding for this project.
