The general construction contract for the Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library elected to purchase certain furniture, fixtures and equipment for the project separate from the contract.
It was determined to be in the City's best interest to procure the steel shelving, end panels and canopy tops through The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) Program. All products offered through the TIPS Program have been awarded through a competitive bid process as allowed under the City's purchasing policy. The vendor selected through the TIPS Program is Library Furniture International. Several meetings were held with Library Furniture International and Library staff to determine the appropriate needs for the new library. Based on this information the contract amount for the required steel shelving, end panels and canopy tops is $517,098.
