SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of interior furnishings for the Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The general construction contract for the Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library elected to purchase certain furniture, fixtures and equipment for the project separate from the contract.  

Proposals from 7 vendors were received on 28 bid packages for interior furnishings, with Storey Kenworthy having submitted the lowest cost proposal meeting the Request for Proposal (RFP) criteria for bid package 21C in the amount of $8,250.99.  See the attached Interior Furnishings - Bid Detail for descriptions of the items contained in the bid package.

FISCAL IMPACT: Yes

The Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library project includes a furniture, fixtures and equipment budget of $1.6 million, with $491,092 programmed for interior furnishings.  Bids for interior furnishings total $443,581.65, a savings of $47,510.35. 

CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:

Recommend approving RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of interior furnishings for the Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
All other bid packages for interior furnishings were awarded at the August 19, 2019 council meeting.
