The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Redbud Landscaping for the SW Des Moines Street - Prairie Trail to Magazine Native Planting Project.

The SW Des Moines Street - Prairie Trail to Magazine Native Planting Project was included in the 2019 Capital Improvement Program.  The project includes the seeding, mulching, and maintenance of natural park areas and stormwater detention basins located between SW Magazine Road and SW Prairie Trail Parkway on SW Des Moines Street.  

Bid invitations were sent to five (5) contractors. Three (3) bids were received for the project as follows:

Redbud Landscaping                 $77,441.00

EOR Iowa, LLC                          $80,262.80

Applied Ecological                      $112,565.50

The Engineer’s estimated cost for the project was $132,410.00 and the bids were approximately 41% below to 15% below the Engineer's estimate. Redbud Landscaping has completed projects for the City of Ankeny in the past and they have the technical experience to complete this project. The Public Works Department recommends awarding the SW Des Moines Street - Prairie Trail to Magazine Native Planting Project to  Redbud Landscaping of Des Moines, Iowa.
