SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION authorizing a project in the Annual Traffic Signal Improvements Projects scheduled for completion in calendar year 2020 within the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program for the City of Ankeny.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The City Council approved the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program on January 21, 2019. The Annual Traffic Signal Improvement Program within the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program includes the NE 18th Street & NE Trilein Drive Traffic Signal project with design scheduled for Calendar Year 2019 and construction scheduled for Calendar Year 2020.

The project will construct a new traffic signal at the intersection, relocate a school zone flashing beacon, upgrade the fiber optic communication cable and pedestrian ramps, and patch pavement on the north leg. The construction project is estimated to cost approximately $480,000.

It is recommended that the NE 18th Street & NE Trilein Drive Traffic Signal project  within the 2019-2023 Capital Improvements Program be authorized at this time, so the project can be let for bids in December 2019. This will support timely procurement of equipment for construction to start in June 2020 with expected completion in early fall 2020.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
The NE 18th Street & NE Trilein Drive Traffic Signal project is included in the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Recommend approval of the Resolution and corresponding authorization for the NE 18th Street & NE Trilein Drive Traffic Signal project in the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program.
